I love it when someone asks, "What do you do?".
Well, we are the gatekeepers, the schedulers, the travel
coordinators. We nailed logistics long before UPS. Before apps, before GPS
navigation, there was us. We know the best restaurants and hotels in every
major city. We have committed airport codes, staff birthdays, and spouses names
to memory. We Google everybody. LinkedIn is our playground. We're
able to leap tall piles of expense reports in a single afternoon. We know that
"vacation day" is code for "working from home." We've
got the reports printed, the room set and the food ordered before you get out
of bed in the morning. We can answer an email, answer the phone, and answer the
door with our eyes closed and hands tied behind our backs. We eat calendars for
breakfast. We understand the secret, underground network that exists beneath
the surface of corporate America. We navigate it skillfully and efficiently,
connecting those who will seal deals, move, and shake. We are executive
assistants, administrative professionals, project coordinators, and secretaries.
We may not drive the machine of the business world, but we certainly make sure
it runs smoothly!
